90 Second Mug Cake

How often have you got a hankering for chocolate cake, but couldn’t have it? Well, that’s all over. Did you know that 5 minutes from now, you could be enjoying a warm, moist, delicious chocolate cake that you made yourself? It’s true. Introducing, the chocolate mug cake!

This recipe uses ingredients that most of us have in our pantries. You just mix this simple batter, put it in a mug or a cup, and cook it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Yes, 90 seconds! Try it. You’re gonna love it.

It doesn’t just end with chocolate cake. Below you will find the recipe for 90 second vanilla cake, too.

Aside from topping this mug cake with your favorite ice cream, you have many other options for customization: add a chocolate truffle, add a marshmallow, add berries and fruit, add jams and jellies, and the list goes on.

Chocolate Mug Cake

Yields: 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tiny pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add all wet ingredients to the bowl and whisk together until mixed well.
  3. Transfer the mixture evenly into two microwave safe mugs or cups.
  4. Microwave each mug for 90 seconds. Or, if you combine the whole batter into one mug, microwave for 2 minutes.
  5. Enjoy!

Optional: Put a marshmallow, or a chocolate truffle in the middle of the batter before cooking.

Vanilla Mug Cake

Yields: 2 servings
Ingredients:

  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tiny pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add all wet ingredients to the bowl and whisk together until mixed well.
  3. Transfer the mixture evenly into two microwave safe mugs or cups.
  4. Microwave each mug for 1 minute 45 seconds seconds. Or, if you combine the entire batter into one mug, microwave for 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
  5. Enjoy!

Optional: Put jam, or macerated berries in bottom of the mug before adding the batter.
